Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba says the club are losing a great and exceptional player in Marcus Rashford who’s set to join Barcelona.

Rashford is among the five players asked to leave Old Trafford this summer as Ruben Amorim hopes to build his squad. The England international spent the last six months of last season on loan at Aston Villa and is now on the verge of joining Barca on loan for the new season.

Pogba, who started his career at Manchester United and later returned after a successful spell at Juventus, crossed paths with Rashford during his second stint at Old Trafford.

The France midfielder has now shared his opinion on Rashford’s decision to switch teams and what he will be bringing to Barcelona.

Speaking during a live chat with streamer Speedy HQ, Pogba openly expressed his happiness for Rashford while also highlighting what he sees as a mistake by his former club.

Pogba admitted he finds the situation “crazy” but is genuinely pleased for Rashford. He commented, “I’m happy for him because they took away his number in Manchester.”

Manchester United recently announced that Rashford’s number ten jersey will be handed over to Matheus Cunha who joined the club this summer from Wolves.

During the conversation, Pogba did not hold back at all when it came to assessing the move from United’s perspective. “They are losing a great player. It’s bad for them, but it’s great for Barcelona,” he said.

Pogba noted that while United have made new signings and their manager, Ruben Amorim, is trying to implement his own style, sometimes these situations are unavoidable.

He added, “It is not his (the coach) fault, I guess, if he doesn’t believe in a player… They have to win, in the end, if they don’t win and don’t play well, they will dismiss him.”

In closing, Pogba made it clear that he is rooting for Rashford’s success at Barça, saying, “I’m happy for Marcus.”

Rashford and Pogba shared a good friendship during their time at Manchester United. The two played a total of 187 matches together at Old Trafford and had nine joint-goal participations.
