£34million Swoop! Liverpool hijack Newcastle transfer for World Cup star
Liverpool are on the verge of securing their first signature under Andoni Iraola after hijacking Newcastle United transfer for Spanish star Victor Munoz.
Newcastle were hopeful of recruiting Osasuna star Munoz to replace Anthony Gordon, who joined Barcelona in a £70million deal last month.
However, latest report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claim Liverpool entered negotiations late but have quickly wrapped up a deal and verbally agreed terms with Muñoz.
Liverpool will pay the Spaniard’s €40m (£34.5m) release clause, with the deal set to be fully signed in the coming days.

Munoz joined Osasuna from Real Madrid in July last year, with the Spanish giants set to receive €20m of the fee Liverpool will pay to sign the exciting 22-year-old.
Currently at the World Cup, Munoz is expected to sign a six-year deal at Anfield.
Munoz enjoyed a successful 2025/26 season. He helped Osasuna narrowly avoid relegation by finishing in 17th spot. The Spanish winger contributed six goals and two assists from 34 LaLiga matches.
The 22-year-old is expected to replace Mohamed Salah on the right hand side.
Ahead of his unveiling at Anfield, Munoz’ focus will be at helping the Spanish national team win the ongoing FIFA World Cup tournament.
