Man City agree £116m Elliot Anderson transfer with Nottingham Forest

Manchester City have reportedly struck an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign midfielder Elliot Anderson in a £116m ($153m) deal.

England international Anderson has been City’s top target this summer transfer window as the citizens start a new era under a new manager, likely to be former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

Anderson is now set to become a City player, putting an end to a transfer saga that has run for the best part of three months.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the total package is understood to be £116m in full, with no add-ons included. Anderson has reportedly been given permission to undergo a medical in the United States.

Anderson will now play alongside Rodri in City’s midfield, as his tireless work rate, defensive screening, and explosive driving lines viewed internally as perfect fit for the team.

Furthermore, his arrival serves as a direct, high-profile response to the sudden void left in City’s midfield following Bernardo Silva’s departure to Real Madrid.

City’s arch-rivals Manchester United were also in the race but withdrew due to Forest’s uncompromising baseline valuation.

As fans await the official confirmation of the deal, City are set to smash the club record £100m fee they paid to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa in 2021.

Anderson is currently playing at the World Cup. He started in both England’s opening games against Croatia and Ghana, and will be expected to retain his place for Saturday’s clash with Panama.
