Isack Hadjar to Miss Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid as Liam Lawson Continues at Red Bull

MILAN / MADRID — Oracle Red Bull Racing has officially confirmed that Isack Hadjar will miss his third consecutive Formula 1 race weekend, remaining sidelined for the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix as he continues his recovery from a wrist injury.

New Zealand Liam Lawson will once again step up to partner Max Verstappen, maintaining the team’s driver lineup configuration from Zandvoort and Monza as F1 prepares to race at the brand-new Madring circuit.

Hadjar’s Recovery Progressing Positively

Hadjar sustained the injury to his left wrist during a physical training session over the summer break. Having already sat out the Dutch and Italian Grands Prix, the young Frenchman’s rehabilitation is reportedly moving in a positive direction, though team medical staff have opted against rushing him back into the high-G environment of an F1 cockpit.

Red Bull released a formal update on Monday following the conclusion of the Italian Grand Prix:

“After racing for the team in Zandvoort and Monza, Liam will continue to drive alongside Max at this week’s Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid. The decision has been taken as Isack’s recovery continues to progress positively. While he is not yet ready to return to the cockpit, he will be in Madrid supporting the team.”

Despite missing rounds, Hadjar currently sits eighth in the Drivers’ World Championship standings with 71 points, anchored by his standout podium finish earlier in the season at Monaco. Red Bull has emphasised that they expect to welcome him back behind the wheel as soon as he is fully cleared.

Lawson and Tsunoda Maintain Their Roles

Hadjar’s ongoing absence means the ripple effect across the Red Bull stable remains unchanged for the Madrid weekend. After scoring points with a 7th-place finish at Zandvoort and enduring a tougher race to 14th at Monza, Lawson gets a third consecutive high-stakes audition in the main Red Bull car alongside Max Verstappen. With Lawson occupying the senior seat, Tsunoda continues his temporary stint stepping up from his reserve role, once again partnering rookie Arvid Lindblad at Racing Bulls.
