‎Huge Switch! Man Utd target Man City star for January transfer

Published on

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City left-back Rayan Ait–Nouri in January as they look to address their defensive crisis

‎Ait-Nouri has failed to work his way into City first team under both Pep Guardiola and Enzo Maresca. The Algeria international could now be offered a new adventure at Old Trafford.

‎United have struggled defensively this season with their left back position a huge concern. Luke Shaw remains the only natural specialist in that position, but injury to the England international has left the squad exposed.

‎Michael Carrick has been able to deploy Diogo Dalot or Ayden Heaven out of their preferred roles.

‎However, that might change in January with United’s sporting director Jason Wilcox reportedly ready to revisit a move for Ait-Nouri after the club previously declined a loan offer for the player during the summer deadline day.

‎Ait-Nouri who proved his worth during his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers is viewed as a high-quality option who could immediately improve the starting XI.

‎According to reports from Florian Plettenberg, personal terms are not expected to be an issue, as the 25-year-old is eager to secure more regular playing time elsewhere after becoming a peripheral figure in the blue half of Manchester.

‎Ait-Nouri joined Manchester City in the summer of 2025 for £30m but things has not worked according to plan.

‎During his first full campaign with the Citizens, he managed only 17 Premier League appearances, and his involvement has decreased even further this season.

‎The Algerian star has not featured for City in the Premier League this term, with his few appearances limited to substitute cameos in the Champions League and outings in the domestic cup competitions.

‎It is understood that Ait-Nouri is open to a departure in January to reignite his career but it’s still unclear if City will accept a proposal from United.
