Serie A duo eager to sign Arsenal defender, approach club hierarchy

Arsenal currently boost one of the best defense line in Europe, however, the Premier League giant might have to let go one of their defenders in January.

Mikel Arteta in the past two seasons have relied on the partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel, this trend has continued this season with both players posing threats to opposition forwards.

The duo have kept four clean sheets, the joint-third highest in the Premier League. Riccardo Calafiori’s addition has also helped matters, along with the return to first-team action for Jurrien Timber.

However, ahead of January transfer window, two clubs in Italy have approached Arsenal’s hierarchy and want to sign Jakub Kiwior.

Kiwior has seen limited game time at Arsenal and these Seria A clubs are looking at bringing him in to help bolster their own chances at success.

Despite his talent, Kiwior has failed to start a Premier League game this campaign and has seen minutes in the Carabao Cup a better avenue. The 24-year-old is now willing to take on a new challenge.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Serie A sides Napoli and Fiorentina have launched enquiries into Kiwior’s signing. Both would like to agree to a loan deal with the Gunners, but Arteta and his side are only open to a permanent sale to the tune of £17m.

Kiwior joined Arsenal from Spezia for £17.5m back in January of 2023 and is able to operate at left-back or left centre-back. A Poland international, he also has 31 caps for his country to his name.

Mikel Arteta will be forced to make a decisive decision in January with a busy calendar ahead for the London club.
