Liverpool are seeking the perfect replacement for Mohamed Salah who will leave the club at the end of the season.

Salah will start a new adventure next season, with the Egypt international tipped to join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia.

Ahead of his departure, Liverpool have begin preparation for a player that fits their budget, and are determined to strike before the player’s value rises even further.

Liverpool have identified Yan Diomande as a perfect fit and have decided to step up their pursuit ahead of the summer transfer window.

Diomande has enjoyed a superb season with RB Leipzig, scoring 15 goals and providing nine assists across all competitions, while operating primarily from the right wing.

According to Teamtalk, Liverpool’s recruitment team are convinced Diomande has the quality to become Salah’s long-term successor, and the club have now opened talks with his representatives.

The report added that Liverpool owners FSG are also set to ‘approve’ the move.

Liverpool are hoping to put the framework of a deal in place before the 2026 World Cup. This is to prevent a hike in transfer fee when Diomande impresses on the international stage.

RB Leipzig are believed to value the teenager at around £87 million, but Liverpool are prepared to spend that sort of figure if necessary.

The club are also encouraged by the fact that Diomande is understood to favour a move to Anfield, despite interest from several European heavyweights including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
