Bayern Munich began their 2026/27 Champions League with a resounding victory over Bodo/Glimt, with Harry Kane playing an important part in the achievement.
Kane was on the socresheet as Bayern defeated their opponent 5-0. After assisting Jamal Musiala early on in the second half, the England international bagged their second of the night with a close-range header on 61 minutes.
The goal marked Kane’s 55th in the Champions League and came on his 71st competition outing.
However, more impressively, Kane has become one of four players to score in eight or more consecutive matches in the competition. The former Tottenham Hotspur star followed Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski, who did so on two occasions each, as well as Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Bayern also made history. The Bundesliga giant have won their opening match in the Champions League for a 23rd straight season, scoring 68 goals and conceding only eight.
Alphonso Davies scored their third of the night before a double from Michael Olise wrapped it up late on.
Kane scored 61goals in all competitions last season, but he’s yet to get his scoring form this season.
The England captain scored on his third appearance of the campaign when Bayern beat VfL Osnabruck 4-1 in the DFB-Pokal.
Kane’s header against Bodo/Glimt has taken him to three goals in five matches for 2026/27 thus far.
Yet to score in the Bundesliga, Kane will be eager to break the jinx this weekend. The Englishman currently has a total of 149 goals for Bayern, and will be eager to add more this season.
