Man United turn to former coach amid speculation about Erik ten Hag’s future

Manchester United have reportedly contacted made contact with Kieran McKenna, the current Ipswich Town boss, as speculation mounts over Erik ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford.

United have struggled during Erik ten Hag’s second season at the club with the team languishing in eighth spot on the Premier League table.

Though Erik ten Hag has insisted that he’s the right man to motivate the squad, United owners are reportedly seeking a replacement for the Dutchman.

According to Foot Mercato, United’s new INEOS hierarchy have been in touch with McKenna’s representatives, exploring the possibility of a return to Old Trafford.

The Guardian also reports that several Premier League clubs are interested in securing his services, including his former team.

McKenna previously worked under Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United before departing the club for a new challenge.

His managerial career has turned out well as he’s been able to lead Ipswich United to consecutive promotions after finishing second in both League One and the Championship.

McKenna is anticipating his role as a Premier League manager and it’s left to see if he’ll be in United dugout or retain his position at Ipswich United.
