Rashford was omitted from the travelling party but he will be eager to reignite his future in the English team under Thomas Tuchel. Despite his recent absence from the England squad, Rashford has expressed his enduring affection for the Three Lions.

England’s social media profile shared highlights of their 3-1 victory over Italy last year – a match in which Rashford scored – and the United star ensured his affection was felt.

The Manchester United ace responded with a red heart emoji, a move that proves he still has his eyes set on the national team.

Rashford has already earned 60 caps and scored 17 goals for his country, but his last appearance for England was as a substitute in a 1-0 loss to Brazil at Wembley in March.

The 26-year-old striker is back with the United squad and will be eager to impress Thomas Tuchel who agreed to an 18-month contract and will lead the national team through to the 2026 World Cup, should they qualify.

Tuchel will start his tenure in the New Year and Rashford will hope he has been able to play his way into the former Chelsea manager plans.
