Piero Hincapie has officially become an Arsenal player as the Premier League champion confirm his signature on a permanent basis.

Hincapie spent the whole of 2025/26 season on loan at Arsenal, establishing himself as a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s backline during a historic season for the Gunners.

On loan from Bayer Leverkusen, the Ecuador international adapted to the flow of Premier League football and has since been acquired on a permanent basis.

The 24-year-old has committed his long-term future to Arsenal by putting pen to paper on a five-year contract that runs until the summer of 2031.

Arsenal secured the deal for a reported fee of £34.5 million plus performance-related add-ons.

The club confirmed the news in an official statement, saying: “We are delighted to have activated the option to make Piero Hincapie’s transfer to us permanent from July 1.”

Hincapie made 39 appearances across all competitions for Arsenal last season, and was part of a defensive line that conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League over the past three seasons.

His individual excellence during the season saw him pick up the Arsenal Player of the Month award in both February and April.
