Arsenal ready second Bruno Guimaraes bid after £55m offer rejected

Premier League champions Arsenal are reportedly preparing a second bid for Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes after their opening £55 million bid was rejected.

Arsenal are prepared to strengthen their midfield this summer and have identified Guimaraes as a perfect addition to Mikel Arteta’s midfield following his stellar performances at the 2026 World Cup.

The north London side submitted an initial offer of £55 million for the 28-year-old, but that was rejected as Newcastle insist they will do everything in their power to keep their captain.

Despite the first setback, Arsenal are prepared to offer a second bid, according to Globo.

The interest is led by sporting director Andrea Berta, who has been a long-term admirer of the midfielder since the director’s time at Atletico Madrid.

Newcastle failed to qualify for any European tournament next season, but that has not put them in a desperate situation to sell their most influential player.

Guimaraes has become a fan favourite at Newcastle and his current contract will run until June 2028.

The midfielder has continue to prove himself on the biggest, playing an influential role in Brazil’s ongoing quest at the World Cup.

Guimaraes has been one of the standout performers in the group stages of the 2026 World Cup. The midfielder has already registered three assists in the tournament, including two in a victory over Scotland.

It’s now left to see if Newcastle will let go of a player who proved his worth last season by racking up 17 goal contributions across 41 appearances.
