Atletico Madrid ‘close’ to reaching agreement with Man City for £100,000-per week star

Spanish side Atletico Madrid are currently in talks with Manchester City over the transfer on Argentina forward Julian Alvarez.

Alvarez has been vocal about his future in recent days. The Argentina forward started 32 Premier League games last season; however, majority of those appearances came as an attacking midfielder behind Haaland.

With Haaland not showing any signs of slowing down, Alvarez might be forced to play back-up role this season but he wants first team football.

Latest report has now indicated he might be joining Atletico Madrid.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City have begin talks on Alvarez transfer. The report stated that the South American’s final fee has yet to be agreed but both clubs are negotiating a deal that would be worth at least £70 million.

Alvarez has four years left on his contract and, according to Spotrac, earns £100,000-per week.

Atletico Madrid are also finalising their recent agreement with Chelsea to sign midfielder Conor Gallagher. The England international is set to undergo a medical ahead of his £33 million transfer.
