Barcelona sensation a doubt for Sevilla clash due to hamstring overload

Published on

Barcelona are likely to be without Lamine Yamal for their La Liga clash against Sevilla this weekend after suffering a knock during their recent game against Denmark this past weekend.

Yamal was spotted limping after the game and tests revealed that he was dealing with a muscle overload, which led to him being released from the La Roja camp despite manager Luis de la Fuente’s desire to keep hold of him.

Having returned to Barcelona, Yamal underwent fresh tests at the club’s facilities at Ciutat Esportiva.

The result is out and according to journalist Javi Miguel of AS, tests have confirmed that the 17-year-old wonderkid is suffering from a left hamstring overload.

Taking this into consideration, Yamal’s involvement in the weekend’s La Liga clash against Sevilla is under a cloud of doubt.

The report suggests that Yamal is dealing with a very minor strain in his hamstring but manager Hansi Flick is seriously considering the possibility of not calling him up to face Sevilla at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Sunday.

Hansi Flick is not willing to risk his youngster and sees it as a necessary precaution keeping in mind the La Masia graduate’s workload.

With Barcelona set to face the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid after the Sevilla encounter. However, Yamal is not fully ruled out of the clash.

Yamal could be named in the squad and used from the bench against the Andalusians.

While Yamal’s involvement will be under doubt, Flick will welcome Fermin Lopez, who resumed group training today, along with Dani Olmo and Gavi, back to the squad for the Sevilla encounter.
