Barcelona striker’s future takes U-turn following Xavi dismissal

Published on

Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski is reconsidering his future at the club following the dismissal of Xavi Hernandez and the imminent arrival of Hansi Flick.

Xavi was sacked by Barcelona just days after the Spaniard agreed to continue his role as the club manager.

Before the sacking of Xavi, one player who has been linked with a summer move is Robert Lewandowski. However, that has changed with the Polish striker ready to play under Hansi Flick.

Hansi Flick and Lewandowski enjoyed a successful partnership during their time together at Bayern Munich.

They won several titles, including the Champions League. Lewandowski played an important role in the squad, scoring for fun and setting impressive personal achievements.

In the 2020/2021 season, he won the European Golden Boot, FIFA Men’s Best Player, and IFFHS World’s Best Top Goal Scorer. Throughout his time with Flick, Lewandowski scored 83 goals and made 22 assists in just 71 matches.

Also, in the 2020/21 season, Lewandowski scored 41 goals in 29 league matches and 20 goals in 21 matches in the 2019/20 season. In the same season, he also scored 10 goals in just seven Champions League matches.

Lewandowski hopes to rediscover this form under Hansi Flick and has decided to stay at Barcelona for another season.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is open to the reunion between Hansi Flick and Lewandowski. Following Barcelona’s trophyless season, Laporta wants the club to return to winning ways and would do everything to support them.
