Bayern Munich chiefs drop hint about interest in Real Madrid top target

Published on

Bayern Munich are looking at strengthening their squad in the summer after failing to bring in Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku in January.

Despite the French forward’s willingness to join Bayern, the Bundesliga giant failed to work out a deal with Chelsea. However, Bayern have now set their sight on signing young players to replace the senior wingers in the squad.

Topping the list of players linked to the club is Germany international Florian Wirtz.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz is the top target for Bayern to strengthen the attack in the summer. Wirtz has been one of the best attacking midfielders in the Bundesliga over the last couple of seasons and his performance has seen him linked with Real Madrid.

While talking to the media on Friday (via AZ), Max Eberl admitted that Bayern can definitely dream about signing a player of Wirtz’s caliber in the next summer transfer window.

However, Eberl is currently focussing on sorting the contracts of several senior players in the squad, the club is looking to tie down the likes of Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala to a new deal.

Christoph Freund has already said it – Dreaming is allowed. We want to finalize our contracts, our ‘internal transfers’, first. And then we’ll see what’s possible”

Wirtz is currently contracted with Bayer Leverkusen until 2027 and it’ll take lots of fund to lure him away from Xabi Alonso’s team.

Several reports in Germany have suggested that the defending Bundesliga champions are ready to offer a new deal to Wirtz in order to fend off interest from Bayern.
