Real Madrid have announced the signature of former Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva on a free transfer.

Following an adventurous and successful nine-year stay at Man City, Silva waved goodbye to the citizens fans at the end of last season when his contract expired.

He’s now set for a new adventure in Spain.

Silva has signed a two-year deal at Real Madrid, who have already added Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella and extended the contract of centre-back Antonio Rudiger following the return of manager Jose Mourinho.

A brief statement read: “Real Madrid CF and Bernardo Silva have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2028.”

Following his breakout season in Monaco, Silva left the French side in 2017 to join Man City.

The Portuguese playmaker played a key part under Pep Guardiola, scoring 76 goals and 75 assists from 460 games across all competitions.

Silva also won 20 trophies during his time at Man City. The Benfica academy graduate was linked with the likes of Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus before his move to Real Madrid was confirmed.

Joining Silva at the Bernabeu this summer could be Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries. Both are expected to sign after the FIFA World Cup.
