Chelsea risk losing another star to Real Madrid as transfer talks begin

Published on

Chelsea might say goodbye to one of the influential players in their squad this summer as Real Madrid are set to open talks with the Premier League side.

Madrid and Chelsea have done a business this summer, following the departure of Marc Cucurella from Stamford Bridge. The Spanish left-back moved to Real in a €55million (£47.5m) deal.

Latest report from talkSPORT have now claimed Madrid are set to open talks with Chelsea over Enzo Fernandez.

Fernandez has been vocal about his desire to leave Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea open to a sale, as long as the suitors are willing to pay £120m.

The World Cup winner was banned by Chelsea for two games in April after the club were unhappy with the 23-year-old hinting at a switch to Madrid.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has voiced out his desire to sign a new superstar for €150m, and while a bid for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez was rejected, attention might be shifted to Fernandez.

The Spanish giant are willing to strengthen their squad with quality players as they hope to avoid a third consecutive trophy less season.

Bernardo Silva has joined on free transfer, Ibrahima Konate is expected to follow suit, while Denzel Dumfries will arrive from Inter Milan.

Chelsea are not under pressure to sell Fernandez and would not sanction his sale until the right price comes in.

Fernandez joined Chelsea from Benfica for £106m in January 2023, just months after winning the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar. He has gone on to make 169 appearances for the London club, scoring 31 times.
