Cole Palmer reveals Premier League icon as his ‘toughest opponent’
Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer has revealed his toughest opponent as the England international continue his brilliant form for club and country.
Palmer has been unstoppable since he joined Chelsea from Manchester City. The 22-year-old scored 25 goals during his first season at Stamford Bridge, with his sensational form earning him a call-up to the England squad for Euro 2024.
He has continued in similar fashion this season, already scoring seven goals and making five assists in nine Premier League games this season.
Palmer has now named Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk as his ‘toughest opponent’.
Undoubtedly one of the best defenders of his generation, Van Dijk has established himself as a Liverpool and Premier League legend since arriving at Anfield in 2018.
The Netherlands international was a key member of the Jurgen Klopp team that ended Liverpool’s long wait for a Premier League title and lifted the Champions League trophy.

Despite being on top of his game, Liverpool are one of the few Premier League clubs Palmer is yet to score against.
In five games against the Reds he has also yet to register an assist. Palmer will be eager to put this run to an end when both sides meet in 2025.
