‘Incredible player’ – Enzo Fernandez tips teenage star to join top European club

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fenandez has tipped River Plate youngster Franco Mastantuono to make a big move to a top European club.

Mastantuono has caught the eye of top clubs in Europe with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea rumoured to be interested in the player.

Fernandez while speaking to ESPN has now labelled his countryman “an incredible player.”

He said: “He’s showing that he has a European future. You can see it.

“He’s an incredible player. He’s doing very well and has shown great talent. In my opinion, he’s a star. I wish him the best and hope he can achieve all his goals. Hopefully he can also help us in the national team.”

Currently representing Argentina Under-20 side, Mastantuono has scored three goals and bagged two assists in his 12 appearances for the Buenos Aires club this season.

Mastantuono has a contract at River until December 2027, but has a release clause set at €45m (£38.4m). It’s left to see if Fernandez can help convince the youngster to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
