Federico Chiesa’s Juventus future in doubt as Thiago Motta clarifies his situation
New Juventus manager Thiago Motta has delivered a potentially crucial update on Federico Chiesa’s future amid intense exit speculation.
Chiesa has been linked with a summer mover away from Juventus.
The Italy international’s contract at Juventus runs out at the end of next season yet there’s been no progress in extension talks. Not to lose him on a free transfer, Juventus have already informed the player he can forget about staying in Turin unless he commits his long-term future to the club.
Thiago Motta has now delivered a crucial update on Federico Chiesa’s future. The former Bologna boss threw the Italian winger’s stay in Turin into further doubt in his latest interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Federico is still part of Juventus at the moment, then we’ll see,” Motta said when asked about Chiesa’s situation at the Allianz Stadium.
Roma had shown interest in the ex-Fiorentina forward earlier in the summer. However, they’re on the verge of signing Matias Soule. After the Giallorossi pulled out of talks for Chiesa, Inter have filled the blank, but they’d only sign the 26-year-old on a free transfer next summer.
It leaves Chiesa’s future at Juventus in limbo. After two troubled campaigns, plagued by injuries and misunderstandings with Massimiliano Allegri, his status in world football has derailed.
Juventus are already looking at bringing in Karim Adeyemi from Dortmund to fill Chiesa space.
