Ferran Torres rejects Barcelona contract offer amidst PSG interest

Ferran Torres is likely to leave Barcelona for a new adventure after deeming the club’s latest contract renewal offer completely unacceptable.

The Spain international has been linked with a move away from Barcelona this summer despite the club willingness to tie him down. It’s now looking like he’ll leave as he is unhappy with both the financial terms of the contract offered and his projected role in the squad.

According to a report from ElDesmarque, Torres considers the renewal offer presented by the club to be entirely insufficient on both sporting and financial levels.

Torres wants a substantially improved salary and demands guarantees over his playing time under new manager Hansi Flick. He feels undervalued despite his contributions and wants the club to reflect his importance in their proposal.

Reports claim if Barcelona fail to submit a significantly enhanced package soon, Torres is prepared to end his tenure in Catalonia.

Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as the clear favourites to secure his signature, with a lucrative proposal already on the table.

Last season, Torres played an important role in Barcelona success, featuring in 49 matches and finding the back of the net 21 times.

Across his entire spell with the Spanish side, Torres has made 207 appearances and scored 65 goals.

Torres’ current contract with Barcelona expires in 2027, meaning the Catalan club will have to cash in on him or risk losing him for free the following summer.

Currently on holiday, Torres will take time to finalise his decision. If Barcelona refuse to submit an improved financial package, a transfer to PSG seems inevitable.
