I’m not talking to Mikel Arteta: Arsenal star casts doubt over his future

Mikel Arteta

Arsenal defender, Kieran Tierney has opened up on his future at the Premier League side, noting that he’s yet to speak with Mikel Arteta about the subject matter.

Kieran Tierney is currently on a season-long loan at Real Sociedad and it’s been a positive adventure for the the Scotland international.

The arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City in 2022 saw Tierney lose his place in the Arsenal squad having joined the club from Celtic in 2019.

Tierney opted to join La Liga side Real Sociedad on a season-long loan earlier this season and has made 15 apperaances.

The 26-year-old has now spoken about his adventure in Spain and what the future holds for him at Arsenal.

“Honestly, this is an incredible experience, I enjoy it,” Tierney told talkSPORT. “It’s a shame that there is so little time left, there are a good six or seven weeks left of the season.”

Speaking about his future and his chances at Arsenal, Tierney took strength from William Saliba loan experience at the club before becoming a first team player.

“In football you never know,” added Tierney. “It’s a bit strange that you can come back the way (William) Saliba did. It is strange to be on loan for four years and then return to play. Football is crazy, so we’ll see. I’m not talking to Arteta, he’s busy there.”

Mikel Arteta will have to decide if Tierney will make a return to the club after the season as he’s currently focused on winning the Premier League and Champions League.
