Inter make surprise decision on Simone Inzaghi’s successor

Inter Milan’s failure to land Cesc Fabregas as their new manager will see the club take a new direction as they continue the hunt for Simone Inzaghi’s successor.

Just days after suffering a 5-0 humiliation against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, Inzaghi informed the club of his decision to leave for Al-Hilal.

Fabregas was tipped to replace the Italian tactician, however, Como rejected that move, stating the importance of their Spanish manager. Inter were also considering Genoa boss Patrick Vieira, however, the latest developments suggest Parma boss Chivu is all set to take charge.

According to a report by Gianluca Dimarzio, Inter have made a surprise move for former player and current Parma manager Cristian Chivu as their new coach.

In the 2009-10 season, Chivu won the treble with Inter as a player under the leadership of manager Jose Mourinho. He spent seven years with the club overall, retiring at the end of that spell with three Serie A titles to his name.

If talks between all parties goes through, Chivu’s first task will be leading the team to the new FIFA Club World Cup. Inter Milan’s Their campaign begins with a game against Monterrey on June 17.
