‘It’s Happening’ – Pep Guardiola Shares Positive Rodri Update
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has shared a positive update on the performance and fitness of Spain international Rodri.
Rodri has endured a difficult 18-month battle with injury but seems to have gotten his fitness back on track in the past few weeks. The Spanish international, who secured City’s first-ever Ballon d’Or triumph, has become a regular fixture in the starting XI again since January.
The Spain international was on target on Wednesday as Manchester City were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest.

Following the recent result, Guardiola spoke glowingly about the midfielder’s progress. “Finally it’s happening like we wanted a long time ago, when he came back, to not have setbacks, have consistency to play, play, and play,” the City boss told reporters during a Friday press conference.
However, Guardiola was quick to warn that managing the Spaniard’s minutes remains a priority during a punishing schedule. He added: “But now we play a lot, long travels away where fatigue is involved – travelling to Madrid, coming back, travelling to London (for West Ham next up in the Premier League), four or five hours to the hotel. You have to use all the squad, otherwise it will not be possible to play for the reasons that we want to play.”
Rodri will now be eager to keep up the good form as Manchester City hope to beat Arsenal to the Premier League title.
The former Atletico Madrid star has just 18 months remaining on his current deal, and no extension signed beyond 2027, he has since been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has recently indicated that the midfielder is seriously mulling over his future as part of City’s wider squad rebuild.
