Unpleasant! Laporta Speaks On Dro Fernandez’s decision to leave Barca

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has hit out at young midfielder Dro Fernandez and his agent for their decision to leave the club and join French Ligue 1 giant PSG.

Highly rated in Spain, Fernandez has decided to move on in search of more regular game time and is set to sign with Luis Enrique’s side. The youngster’s approach has raised eyebrows among Barcelona stakeholders including the club president.

Laporta has shared his thoughts on the situation and admits he was surprised by the news.

“We’ll talk about it when it’s all finalized. He has announced that he won’t be staying,” he told Catalunya Radio.

“It’s an unpleasant situation. We’ll be able to resolve the situation as it was initially presented. It was a surprise.

“We had agreed on another solution for Dro when he turned 18, and surprisingly, his agent told us that we couldn’t honor our agreement. We’ll try to make it work out in the best possible way for Barça ‘s interests.”

PSG are expected to pay around €8 million to land Fernandez. The teenager is expected to be unveiled shortly at the Parc des Princes and sign a contract that runs until 2030.

Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund were also interested in signing the youngster, but PSG won the race after Luis Enrique personally spoke with the player.
