Man Utd confirm length of Leny Yoro cruel injury, to undergo surgery
Manchester United have confirmed that Leny Yoro will be out of action for three months.
Yoro joined Manchester United from Lille this summer a deal worth up to £58.7million but picked up an injury during the club’s pre-season tour. The United’s new signing suffered a foot injury against Arsenal.
Making just his second outing for the club, the defender hobbled off during the last 30 minutes of the Red Devils 2-1 defeat to the Gunners’ in Los Angeles.
The teenage French defender underwent successful surgery on Monday.
United’s statement read: “Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has today had a successful surgery on his foot injury. Our summer signing from Lille sustained the injury during the team’s recent friendly match against Arsenal in Los Angeles, USA.
“Yoro’s rehabilitation starts now and we look forward to the 18-year-old returning to fitness in around three months.”
United were already in the market for a new defender and already risk seeing their backline stretched in the opening weeks of the season. With Yoro ruled out until at least November, making a deal for a target such as Matthijs de Ligt could be imperative.
De Ligt is willing to join the Red Devils having played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.
