Liam Rosenior names Chelsea weakness following Everton defeat

Published on

Chelsea struggles under Liam Rosenoir continued on Saturday afternoon as the London club failed to put in a convincing performance against Everton.

Coming off a 3-0 home defeat in the Champions League and an embarrassing 8-2 aggregate scoreline to PSG, Liam Rosenoir’s team were tipped to bounce back against Everton.

However, two goals from Beto and a wonderful strike from Iliman Ndiaye condemned Chelsea to a 3-0 defeat, and add more pressure on Rosenoir.

It was Chelsea’s fourth consecutive defeat across all competitions with question asked if Rosenoir has what it takes to lead the squad.

However, Rosenoir while speaking to talkSPORT after the match, acknowledged the errors that his side made and vowed to work on eradicating them.

He said: “I take responsibility. I need to pick a team of players in moments that don’t make the costly errors that we’re making, and I also need to help the team do that.

“We’ll sit down and analyse how we go about games. We changed the system a little bit, we weren’t so aggressive in our press, I think it actually worked quite well, we had control of the game.

“In the moment of the first goal, we looked like the team more likely to score. That’s happened too many times, and that’s something that needs to change.”

Rosenoir added that the March international break serves as a great time for his players to recharge their battery, noting that they will be able to take their minds of the club’s form in the next two weeks.

He remarked: “I think for them, maybe a change is as good as a rest, to get away with their international teams and come back mentally refreshed and refocused may help them.

“And it also gives me and my staff time as well. We’ve played, I think, 20 games in ten weeks, something like that, I don’t know the exact number.

“But now we have a real, clear amount of time to analyse things, talk and make sure we come back stronger in the run-in.”

Chelsea will return on April 4 to face Port Vale in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
