Man United Make New Manager Decision As Sir Alex Ferguson Intervenes
Manchester United are set to appoint Michael Carrick as their new interim manager this week, with Sir Alex Ferguson playing an important role in the decision.
United are on the lookout for a new manager following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese was dismissed just 14 months after he was announced as Erik Ten Hag’s replacement.
The Red Devils have plumped for an interim manager until the end of the current campaign, and two leading candidates for the post emerged, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Carrick.
The pair had worked together in Solskjaer’s previous tenure as United boss, before they both departed the club in 2021 following the Norwegian’s sacking.

However, Carrick seems to have won the race.
According to TalkSPORT, Sir Alex Ferguson backed Carrick for the role, with the former England international emerging as the leading candidate for the role on Monday.
Carrick made 464 appearances for United as a player, winning five Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008.
In his first interim spell in charge, he won two games and drew the other.
Since he left United, he has been the head coach of Middlesbrough, leading the Teesside outfit to the Championship play-offs in his first term.
However, he was sacked by last season, and has not worked since. He is now set to take over from former team-mate Darren Fletcher, who has stepped in as a caretaker manager.
