No Party! Man Utd To Cancel End Of Season Awards Night

Published on

Manchester United are expected to cancel their end of season awards night if the team fails to secure Champions League qualification.

United have failed to impress this season with their form leading to the departure of Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese tactician was sacked after 14 months in charge but his departure has failed to things around.

The Red Devils were knocked out of the FA Cup by Brighton on Sunday which means the managerless side have no chance of winning silverware at the earliest stage of a campaign since World War II.

Also likely to be their worst season in history, United got knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two minnows Grimsby.

It is the first time the English giants have crashed out of both domestic cup competitions in their first tie since 1982.

Despite winning the FA Cup title in 2024, United’s players decided not to hold the end of year players’ awards night and the same thing happened last season, when United finished a woeful 15th in the table.

The pattern will follow this year with United not looking like a team getting out of their current status. United are not in Europe and trail Premier League leaders Arsenal by 17 points.

Only positive the Red Devils can take from this season is securing a top four finish. However, their current form indicates this would be difficult to accomplish.

If United don’t secure a return to the Champions League, the squad will discuss the merits of calling off the end-of-season dinner.

And even if they do, it is still expected not to take place. It would be the third season in succession this has happened.

The awards night involves prizes for players from across the men’s, women’s and youth teams. But if the men’s team decide not to stage the event, it will not take place.

United are still on the lookout for a new coach with Michael Carrick expected to be the club’s interim manager for the remainder of the season.
