Mikel Arteta faces huge concern as star limps off during England loss

Published on

In what will be a huge blow for Mikel Arteta, Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has been forced off injured during England’s Nations League defeat to Greece on Thursday night.

Saka has grown to become one of the best wingers in football and it wasn’t surprising he was part of the attacking line-up named by interim manager Lee Carsley.

The Arsenal star lined up alongside the likes of Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Anthony Gordon and Cole Palmer at Wembley but a disjointed England side lost 2-1 to the Greeks.

Bellingham equalized for England in the dying embers after Vangelis Pavlidis had given the visitors the lead before the Greece striker bagged a late second.

However, Saka limped off just six minutes into the second-half, sitting down on the turf after Greece were celebrating their opener.

The 23-year-old was then replaced by Chelsea winger Noni Madueke and it remains to be seen if he will be fit for Sunday’s game against Iceland.

Arsenal are currently without Martin Odegaard who suffered an ankle injury during last month’s international break and it’s left to see if Saka will recover from this knock for Sunday’s game against Iceland.
