Mohamed Salah would struggle: Premier League boss shares concern

Mohamed Salah has continued his goalscoring form for Liverpool this season but he would struggle to play in Tottenham Hotspur, according to Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has insisted that even Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah would struggle in his Tottenham side.

Salah is currently the best forward in world football with 21 goals in 27 games, his goals have helped Liverpool reach the summit of the Premier League after 19 games. However, he will find it difficult to replicate such form if he was playing for Tottenham.

Speaking ahead of their Carabao Cup semifinal first leg against Liverpool, Postecoglou shares his thought about his current team.

“Mo is a world-class player, but if you put him in our team now I’m not sure he’ll have that same level of performance because of the situation we’re in as a group,” Postecoglou said.

“His attacking play, who do you need? You need a team that’s kind of in good form, creating opportunities, playing on the front foot, having a really solid foundation of a defence that is cohesive. None of these things exist at the moment.”

With just two wins in their last 11 games in all competitions, Postecoglou has come under fire. The inconsistency in the Tottenham Hotspur squad has been highlighted by fans.

While they’ve struggled to be at their best against the small teams, Tottenham Hotspur have shown what they can produce while playing against the big boys.

Carabao Cup serves as an opportunity for the London club to win a silverware this season and it’s left to see if they can stop Arne Slots’ team.
