Napoli set sight on Juventus midfield talent after successful loan spell

Published on

Napoli are looking at signing Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus this summer following a solid loan spell at Frosinone.

After a disappointing 2023/24 season that saw them fail to qualify for European football, Napoli are eager to bounce back.

Antonio Conte has been announced as the new manager and he’s ready to bring in players that will help steady the team. Barrenechea has now been identified as the player who fit that status.

According to Mattia Moretto (via SOSFanta), the Argentine midfielder is particularly appreciated by new Partenopei director Giovanni Manna.

Giovanni Manna contributed to bringing him to Italy and his growth as head of the Bianconeri’s Next Gen squad in previous years.

It remains to be determined whether Juventus will be open for business concerning Barrenechea as recent reports, before Napoli came into the picture, suggested he could stay put under Thiago Motta.

Moreover, they wouldn’t have trouble finding a taker if they wanted to loan him out again.

Barrenechea has 39 Serie A appearances under his belt and 49 with the Old Lady’s second squad. He joined from Sion in a €5M move back in 2020. He’s under contract for two more years.
