Africa Giant confirms interest in former PSG, Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos

Published on

Sergio Ramos is currently without a club after Sevilla failed to renew his contract upon expiry in July. Now without a club, Ramos is seeking a new challenge elsewhere.

Egyptian club Zamalek SC have now set their sights on signing the former Real Madrid star, according to reports from Omar Zaalouk, a player agent.

Zaalouk recently shared insights about the ongoing negotiations with OnTime Sport. “Ali Hisham Nasr, the club’s marketing official, contacted me about the possibility of negotiating with Sergio Ramos,” Zaalouk revealed as quoted by KingFut.

The agent confirmed he reached out to Ramos’ brother and agent, Rene, to discuss a potential transfer to Zamalek. “Ramos did not object to playing in the Egyptian Premier League,” he noted, highlighting the player’s openness to the move.

However, talks have hit a pause as both parties await the conclusion of the CAF Super Cup.

“Zamalek made an official offer to sign Ramos, but he requested a higher financial amount than what was offered,” Zaalouk explained. The agent believes the financial gap is not significant, stating that the chances of finalising the deal sit at “50-50.” He added, “For now, the deal isn’t closed, and it’s very possible it could be completed after the Super Cup.”

The legendary defender enjoyed a remarkable 16-year career at Madrid, playing over 670 matches and winning 22 trophies—including four UEFA Champions League title.

He left Madrid for PSG before returning to Sevilla for the 2023/2024 season but is now a free agent after just one season.

It’s left to see if Ramos will make a surprising move to Africa and this will boost the prestige of African football.
