Raheem Sterling Leaves Chelsea By Mutual Consent

Raheem Sterling has finally put an end to his nightmare at Chelsea after agreeing to terminate his contract early.

Chelsea confirmed on Wednesday that they had reached a “mutual agreement” with Sterling to allow him to seek a new club as a free agent.

“Raheem Sterling has today departed Chelsea Football Club by mutual agreement, bringing to an end three-and-a-half seasons as our player, having signed in the summer of 2022 when he was transferred from Manchester City,” Chelsea said in a statement.

“We thank Raheem for the contribution he made while a Chelsea player and wish him well for the next stage in his career.”

Sterling’s contract was terminated 18 months early. The 31-year-old, who has been Chelsea’s highest-paid player since arriving in 2022, had not featured in a blue shirt since May 2024.

He had been banished from first-team training as part of the so-called ‘bomb squad’ and Chelsea have been desperately trying to offload him before the winter transfer deadline on February 2.

Reacting on his Instagram story, Sterling wrote: “All eyes on the future. God is great.”

Now a free agent, Sterling has been linked with the likes of Fulham, Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen, but a move has not materialised.
