Roberto De Zerbi open to taking Tottenham’s proposed five-year contract

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to get a new manager as Roberto De Zerbi is willing to take up the decisive role.

Following the dismissal of Igor Tudor after just seven games, Spurs are on the lookout for a new manager and are prepared to offer De Zerbi a long-term five-year contract.

The former Brighton boss had originally planned to wait until the summer, but the lure of a Premier League return could see him take charge for the final run-in.

According to reports from Sky in Italy, while De Zerbi initially intended to evaluate his options in the summer, he is now willing to step in immediately as Tottenham’s new head coach.

Spurs are expected to hold talks over a five-year contract proposal, as the club prefers a permanent appointment following Tudor’s exit.

De Zerbi is famous for his attractive and possession-based football. However, his track record as a mid-season appointment raises questions about his ability to provide an instant ‘bounce’.

The Italian failed to win any of his first five matches, and similar struggles occurred during his stints at Palermo and Benevento.

It’s now left to be seen if he can get Tottenham back on track, with only seven matches remaining.
The north London club are currently in a serious relegation battle, sitting just one point above the drop zone.
