‎Spain extend contract of coach Luis de la Fuente to 2032

‎The Board of Directors of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has extended the contract of coach Luis de la Fuente until 2032 after he led Spain to World Cup success this summer.

‎De la Fuente has returned Spain back to the summit of football and while his previous deal was due to expire in 2028, he will now remain in charge of Spain for an additional four years.

‎The new contract will see De la Fuente lead Spain in their defence of the World Cup in 2030, which they will co-host alongside Morocco and Portugal, as well as the European Championships in 2032, which will be split between Italy and Türkiye.

‎”We are looking for a project built on stability and trust. This is a proposal based on our confidence in Luis de la Fuente and the sporting project he leads, for a multi-year competitive cycle with major tournaments. He deserves a long future at the RFEF,” said Rafael Louzán, president of the organisation.

‎Former Athletic Club and Sevilla player Luis de la Fuente has been involved with Spain’s national teams since 2013, when he took charge of the Under-19s.

‎He later moved on to the Under-21s before taking another step up in 2023. Since then, he has won a World Cup, a European Championship and a Nations League title.
