Thomas Muller in line to join Manchester United in off-field role

Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller is likely to join Manchester United in an off-field role as the German giant chief Uli Hoeness confirms that he will not take up a leadership role with the Bavarians.

Undoubtedly one of the best in his position, Muller, earlier this month announced that he would not be extending his contract with Bayern Munich, as his deal winds down to an end this summer. The former Germany international decision have raised various speculation about his future.

While some report have linked him with a move to the MLS, Muller has also been linked with a move back to Bayern Munich.

However, latest report claimrole, Muller might call time on his career, and it has been suggested that he could immediately take up a leadership role.

Despite his status at Bayern, Hoeness has confirmed that the German international will not take on such a role at Bayern Munich at the moment, but could return to after he gains experience at other clubs, naming Manchester United in particular.

Speaking to journalist Julien Wolff, Hoeness said: “He’ll spend three months studying the NBA, three months with the NFL, then go to England – for example, to Manchester United. He’ll come back with a certain level of experience and then discuss with us what role he could take on at FC Bayern in the future.”
