Tottenham Hotspur set to make final decision on Ange Postecoglou’s future

Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to sack manager Ange Postecoglou even if he manages to lead the London club to Champions League qualification, new report has revealed.

Despite starting the league on a bright note, Tottenham are on track to record their worst Premier League campaign in history, with an 18th defeat of the campaign leaving them 16th in the standings with just five games left to play.

Surprisingly, West Ham United who started the season poorly sit one point behind Spurs.

Though they’ve not been good domestically, Spurs still have the chance to sneak into next season’s Champions League if they can win the Europa League. Postecoglou’s side face Bodo/Glimt in the final four and would then do battle with either Manchester United or Athletic Club in the final.

Latest report from the Telegraph have now stated that qualifying for the Champions League may well save Postecoglou’s job but there is a growing feeling that the Australian will be relieved of his duties this summer regardless of Spurs’ European fate.

It is also not ruled out that Postecoglou could be sacked sooner if Spurs are eliminated from the Europa League semi-finals.

Postecoglou still has two years remaining on his contract and would require a sizeable pay-off if he is dismissed outright.

If sacked, Tottenham might shift focus to one of their former managers. Former manager Mauricio Pochettino has openly admitted his desire to return but is not expected to leave his current role as United States manager until after the 2026 World Cup at the earliest.
