Xabi Alonso addresses Rodrygo future amid Arsenal interest
New Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has insisted that Brazilian forward Rodrygo remains an important part of the team despite numerous links with Premier League clubs.
Premier League clubs especially Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with a summer move for Rodrygo. The 24-year-old has endured a difficult season at the Bernabeu and has been linked with a move away.
However, Alonso during his first press conference as the club manager told reporters: “Rodrygo is a Real Madrid player. He is a spectacular player and we will need him.”
Rodrygo is capable of playing from the left of attack, but he is also capable of playing in central zones, and his creativity would have been a significant boost to the Gunners.
He will now continue his spell at Real Madrid and hope to play a significant role under Xabi Alonso when they play in the newly revamped Club World Cup tournament in June.
Premier League clubs especially Arsenal will now have to switch their attention to other players who can help their team succeed when the new season starts in August.
Arsenal have reportedly added Brighton & Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma to their transfer list, with Mikel Arteta keen to find a starting attacker in the summer.
