Not a big deal!! Xabi Alonso denies Vinicius Jr unrest
Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has dismissed rumours of unrest between him and Brazilian star Vinicius Jr following a drama that occurred during the weekend.
The Los Blacos during the weekend continued their impressive start to the season with a 2-0 win over Espanyol. However, Vinicius was not too impressed when he was substituted in the second half, a move that has been constant this season under Alonso.
Vinicius had continue to play his role in the Madrid team. Despite looking unstoppable, the Brazilian star has yet to complete a full 90 minutes in any of the 12 competitive matches under Alonso.
There have been rumours the Brazilian declined Madrid’s latest contract offer, and he might be seeking an exit soon.
Despite all that tension, Alonso believes everything is fine amongst all parties.

Asked about the apparent tension and substitution pattern involving Vinicius, Alonso replied that he doesn’t think about it much and rather maintains a team-first approach.
“I’ve been a player. Me too, when I was substituted, it wasn’t the best time. I take it naturally and we talk about things. I like being close to the players. I don’t make a big deal out of it,” he said at a press conference.
“After the match I spoke to the players and they were all happy: for the victory and eager to continue improving. That’s what we need, to be a team player and have a collective spirit . All the players understand the role we want for the team and they are contributing. I’m happy with Vinicius, we’re just starting the season. He has to continue feeling comfortable. There’s still a lot left.”
Contract negotiations between Madrid and Vinicius have stalled since the end of last year, with the Brazilian pushing for wage parity with Kylian Mbappe and clarity over his role under Alonso.
The Brazilian has since been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Saudi Pro League clubs. Madrid are reluctant to let him run down his deal into its final year and might be forced to cash in on him if things don’t change in the next few weeks.
