Divock Origi fails to agree termination deal with AC Milan
Former Liverpool striker Divock Origi has been caught in an awkward situation as he fails to agree a termination deal with his current club AC Milan.
Origi is tied to Milan until the end of the 2025-26 season but the club and the player want to terminate the contract a year early. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the two parties are trying to find a common ground to agree on Origi’s severance package. The Belgian has been a part of Milan’s youth team, Milan Futuro, since 2024.
The former Liverpool striker reportedly had a meeting with Milan representatives to discuss the terms of termination of his contract.
AC Milan have been paying around €5 million per year for Origi’s services, a cost that they now look to take off the books. Having not reached an agreement on the severance package, a second round of talks will be held in the coming weeks.

With Origi’s early departure, the Italian club want to avoid wasting more money on players not part of the project. Milan are running short of cash; the Italian club have been struggling financially due to FFP rules and dropping out of the top four in Serie A.
For this reason, the club sold Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City and are further looking to manage the books with the sale of Rafael Leao – who has reportedly being offered to Barcelona.
However, Tare has acknowledged a need for another striker in the team who is more traditional, penalty-box specialist
AC Milan are also looking at bringing in a new midfielder and Luka Modric has reportedly said yes to joining the Milan camp after the end of Real Madrid’s Club World Cup campaign.
However, the club’s plan for a midfield revolution is taking a hit after Valencia rejected Milan’s offer for Javi Guerra. There are indication they might submit another offer before moving on from the deal.
