‘No hard feelings’: Thomas Frank offers olive branch to Tottenham outcast

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has offered an olive branch to the club’s outcast Yves Bissouma following the Mali international’s failed move out of the club in the summer transfer window.

Bissouma, who has entered the final year of his contract, was strongly linked with a move away from Spurs but the midfielder failed to secure a transfer and stayed back in the Premier League.

The Mali international was also very close to securing a move to Turkey earlier this month, but the move to Fenerbahce collapsed later as he picked up an injury. The midfielder barely featured during Spurs’ pre-season, which led to his ouster from Thomas Frank’s squad for the UEFA Super Cup.

Despite the drama surrounding his future, Spurs boss Frank is ready to reconcile his differences with the player as he claimed that Bissouma can still make it into his squad, provided he proves his worth in the training sessions.

Speaking to reporters, the Tottenham coach said: “There are no hard feelings at all. Not before, not now, not at all. Train well and everyone has an opportunity.”

On Bissouma’s injury and recovery process, Frank added: “I think, to be fair, he has just started to run outside, so he is not part of the group. But everything I have seen when I’ve said hello to him and every day with the players, he seems good.”

When further probed on when the Mail international can make it back to his team, the Spurs boss said: “That I actually don’t know. The players available now are the players I have available. Of course, I know [about his recovery] but that is further down the line.”

It’s left to see if Bissouma will be available for selection when Spurs face Brighton away from home in the Premier League on Saturday.
