‘Lack of maturity’: Xavi reacts to Barcelona’s loss to Girona, Madrid’s La Liga triumph

Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez has voiced out his frustrations over his team performance during their loss to Girona on Saturday.

The Catalonia side were beaten 4-2 by Girona, a result that saw Real Madrid crowned La Liga champion for the 36th time.

Barcelona were in control for an hour and up 1-2, however, Xavi Hernandez’s side started making rookie mistakes as Portu ran away with the game, scoring two and assisting one in the win.

Speaking after the game, Xavi noted that it’s a mental issue: “It is hard to explain this. This is the summary of our season, we gifted them the match,” Xavi said following the loss, as quoted by MARCA.

“We dominated the game, and we had it under control. We could not score a third goal and then we gifted three.”

“This match shows a lack of competitiveness, a lack of maturity, and individual errors that should not happen at this level,” Xavi said in frustration.

“Last season we reduced our individual errors, but this season we doubled them. They scored two goals in two minutes because of our mistakes.”

Xavi Hernandez also seized the moment to react to Real Madrid’s achievement. The Spaniard almost with a heavy heart, congratulated them.

“Real Madrid won the most points, so yes. Congratulations to them.”

“I am the first one who is pissed off. I am furious. Above being the manager, I am a Barcelona fan,” he concluded.
