Arsenal’s stance on Victor Osimhen summer move revealed as PSG looks on
Arsenal have been in contact with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as Mikel Arteta hopes to sign a recognized striker this summer transfer window.
Osimhen has been one of the leading goal-scorers in the Serie A over the last couple of seasons, netting 65 times since arriving from French outfit Lille in 2020. His impressive form has seen him linked with Chelsea, Arsenal and PSG.
It has now been reported that Arsenal have been in contact with the striker Jose Mourinho likened to legendary marksman Didier Drogba. However, Mikel Arteta’s men are not the frontrunners for his signature as PSG are also speaking with Napoli.
According to Di Marzio, Arsenal have been in contact with the player, but no concrete negotiations have yet developed. On the other hand, the Nigerian striker is reportedly one of PSG’s top priorities, and they are perhaps the only European side that is a viable destination for Osimhen.
Di Marzio further told bettingexpert.com that Chelsea are all but out of the running for Osimhen after showing minimal interest in June.
New Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is thought to prefer Atletico Madrid striker Samy Omorodion, but the deal has been blown back due to Alvaro Morata’s departure to AC Milan.
If Arsenal are to miss out on Osimhen, they will shift their interest to Sporting CP marksman Viktor Gyokeres, whose £84million release clause would have to be met should they wish to sign him.
Another player whose name has been thrown around is Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. However, the club’s £100million asking price and disinclination to sell makes any move for the Swede unlikely.
