Liverpool star sends Arne Slot warning ahead of new challenge
Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has praised the impact Arne Slot has made during pre-season training but warned that success would take time under the new manager.
Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager after the German tactician left the club for an extended break and the Reds will officially begin their pre-season campaign on Friday with a friendly against Real Betis.
Jones was alongside the new Reds head coach during a press conference in Pittsburgh on Thursday.
The Liverpool midfielder spoke about how he has found the training sessions since Slot’s arrival. Jones went on to make a claim about how the sessions are benefiting his own game, while also warning that success would ‘take time’ under the new coach.
“He’s [Slot] amazing, actually,” Jones told reporters on Thursday. “I’ve said it a lot, it’s probably the happiest I’ve been in terms of a style of play that suits me and the lads that we have in our team, it’s a clear plan.
“In the training stuff, he [Slot] is fully involved, he coaches us a lot, he is big on the finer details in things. He has a certain way of playing and he knows it is going to take a little bit of time because it is obviously a big change.
“He and his staff are chilled about it and they know that the quality is all there. We have still got lads who are coming back as well, so it’ll be a step up again.”
Slot has been assessing the Reds squad at the AXA Training Centre on Merseyside for the last few weeks and will now watch the players in action in friendlies against Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United.
