Vincent Kompany has rejected the opportunity to feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as he intends to spend his summer relaxing after a stressful season.

Kompany has continue his good job at Bayern Munich this season, as the Bundesliga giant still in the race to win all available trophies.

With so much still to fight for, Kompany has revealed he turned down multiple World Cup punditry roles.

The former Burnley manager has been approached by both ITV and the BBC to cover this summer’s tournament in North America.

Despite a history of providing expert insight for the BBC and Sky Sports, the 40-year-old confirmed he will definitely not be working during the tournament.

He said: “No chance! What am I supposed to do, work as a TV pundit on holiday?

“Otherwise, I won’t have a family left in Munich next year! So, absolutely no chance!”

Bayern Munich are undoubtedly one of the best teams in Europe this season. Kompany’s team have scored a stunning 109 goals in just 30 league games.

An attack led by Harry Kane, Luis Diaz, and Micheal Olise have been unstoppable all season. Kompany will be relying on his frontmen to deliver as the season comes to an end.

Bayer Leverkusen awaits Bayern in the DFB-Pokal semi final and a win would see the club reach its first cup final since 2020.
