You Wish! Kai Havertz responds to Chelsea return plea

Arsenal forward Kai Havertz would not consider re-joining Chelsea this summer despite pleas from some fans.

Havertz left Stamford Bridge to start a new adventure at Arsenal in 2023. His three years spell at Chelsea saw him score 32 goals and provide 16 assists across all competitions.

He is fondly rememberd for scoring the winning goal in Chelsea’s 2021 Champions League final triumph.

With Chelsea now lacking the firepower to compete at the highest level, Havertz was asked by a fan whether he would be open to re-joining the London club as he signed autographs at Germany’s World Cup base camp.

Told to “go back to Chelsea” by a young supporter, Havertz was unequivocal, saying: “You wish, you wish.”

Chelsea currently have Joao Pedro leading the line at Stamford Bridge and have not shown any sign of bringing in Havertz this summer.

However, this is not the first time the player has made clear his commitment to Arsenal.

He kiboshed rumours surrounding his future at a press conference in March, saying: “I feel right at home at Arsenal and I see my future there.

“I feel everyone there is also very, very happy with me.

“Sure, it wasn’t a very easy season, but I definitely see my future at Arsenal, in London.”

Havertz is due to play a key role for Germany at this summer’s World Cup, and scored another early goal as they beat the United States in a warm-up friendly.

They share a group with Germany, the Ivory Coast and Ecuador, with their campaign getting underway on June 20.
