Barcelona eye Liverpool attacker as Robert Lewandowski replacement

Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez in the summer, as they see him as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Despite having two years left to run on his contract at Camp Nou, Robert Lewandowski has been linked with a move out of the club.

Reports have claimed Barcelona are willing to cash out on Lewandowski who is currently 35-year-old.

According to The Sun, Barcelona have identified Nunez as a target amid suggestions that the forward could leave Liverpool when this summer’s transfer window opens for business.

Nunez has faced criticism this season over his finishing but Barcelona believes he has what it takes to shine brightly at Camp Nou.

The report added that Barcelona are confident that they will be able to meet Liverpool’s asking price for Nunez despite their well-documented financial problems.

Nunez has managed to score 18 goals and contribute 13 assists in 51 appearances this term. On the other hand, Lewandowski has scored 24 times in all competitions this season, in addition to contributing nine assists.

Barcelona failed to defend the La Liga title they won last season with Real Madrid proving unstoppable and Xavi Hernandez is eager to build a team that win trophies next season.
