Man City set sight on Saudi Pro League star to help save their season

Manchester City are considering bringing in one of the best players in Saudi Pro League as Pep Guardiola continue to find a solution to their bad run of form.

Despite being tipped to defend the title they won last season, Man City have struggled for consistency and this has seen them fail to win a match in their last seven games in all competition.

City were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, a result that means Guardiola is currently going through the longest winless run in his career across Barcelona, Bayern Munich and now Manchester City.

With several of City’s ageing squad looking tired, reports have claimed Guardiola is looking at bringing in a new player from Saudi Arabia.

According to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, Man City are looking to save homesick Gabri Veiga from the Saudi Pro League and offer him a lifeline back to Europe.

Veiga was linked with City back in the summer of 2023 while still a Celta Vigo player, but opted to join the many overseas players who moved to the Middle East that summer, to sign for Al Hilal instead.

Veiga moved to the Saudi Pro League in August 2023 and reports claimed he might be willing to make a move back to European football.

Moving back to Europe will see him get back to limelight and this he might consider. City will offer him the platform to play at the biggest stage as well as offer a competitive wage for the Spaniard.

FourFourTwo understands that Veiga would be more of a Bernardo Silva replacement than an option in Rodri’s position.

Currently worth €25 million, City will have no issues splashing the cash when it’s time.
